About Rasha

Greetings, friends, and welcome to my world.

I am a ceramicist and knitter born in the San Francisco Bay Area, currently living in Brooklyn, NY.

I’ve always loved creating things. It started with doodling creatures in the corners of my notebooks. Eventually I discovered three-dimensional arts: I’ve been sculpting with various types of clay since I was a teenager (starting with Sculpey, moving on to ceramic stoneware in my 20s), and just before the COVID-19 pandemic I tried my hand at throwing on the wheel. I combine all of these skills into each of my ceramic pieces: altering thrown shapes, sculpting fantastical forms, and decorating surfaces with friends that spring out of my mind or the world that I live in.

My love for yarn started when I was even younger, but truly came into being during my college years, when my roommate was trying to teach herself to knit and I suddenly remembered that hey, I knew how to do that, too. Knitting allows me to create useful and beautiful things from the comfort of the couch.

I love to travel and explore other places and meet new people - I’ve lived on three continents, traveled around four - and all of these experiences inform my art. I’m inspired by everything from ancient mythologies to modern cartoons and films, from my travels across the world to the everyday of life in New York City.
